Kim Stryker is an independent folklorist living "inside the Beltway" near Washington, D.C. in a modified farmhouse with her husband, a giant dog, a fat cat and a colony of honeybees. She is currently completing her Master’s thesis, which is a long-term ethnographic study of a group of “pick-your-own” farmers in Virginia at George Mason University.

Open farms inviting you to pick your own offer not only the freshest of fruit but a reminder of simpler times.
