The end is nigh

The start of December spells different things for different people. For most it’s the countdown to Christmas, but in 2013 for many it’s a reminder of difficult times in a season of excess. But as it winds down to an end and we enter a new year, it’s the easiest time for a bit of reflection. Issue 16 explores the year of food banks for which 2013 was the biggest, and asks where this country is headed on a scale of nought to food poverty. We also take a look at what makes the perfect Christmas dinner according to scientists, and the thrill and magic that comes from Christmas food. We wish you all a very happy holiday, and a prosperous new year.
